Physicians may miss flu vaccination opportunities for Medicare patients
Only 50.5% of Medicare beneficiaries ages 19 or older had received an influenza vaccine during the 2018 to 2019 flu season, and vaccination rates were significantly higher among White beneficiaries than Black or Hispanic beneficiaries.

Lung screening's benefits, challenges
In March 2021, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) expanded eligibility for lung cancer screening by setting the benchmark at a 20 pack-year smoking history for those ages 50 to 80 years who are current smokers or former smokers who have quit within the past 15 years.

Treatment for high-risk COVID-19 patients, vaccine news, research on health messaging
An industry-funded study found benefit with bamlanivimab plus etesevimab for high-risk ambulatory COVID-19 patients, the FDA noted a possible increased risk for Guillain-Barré syndrome with the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, and two studies looked at COVID-19 messaging for minority populations.
