ACP reminds adults to get their flu shot during National Influenza Vaccination Week

All adults should make it a priority to get vaccinated due to the arrival of influenza season, holiday gatherings, and winter weather, as well as the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

National Influenza Vaccination Week is Dec. 5-11. ACP is urging all adults to make it a priority to get vaccinated due to the arrival of influenza season, holiday gatherings, and winter weather, as well as the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

Influenza activity was unusually low last season. COVID-19 mitigation measures likely contributed to the decline in 2020-2021 influenza incidence, hospitalizations, and deaths. Since flu season can be unpredictable, it is strongly recommended that patients receive the influenza vaccine for their own well-being and to protect the health of those around them.

The latest adult immunization schedule and recommendations approved by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices are available in Annals of Internal Medicine.
