ACP collaborates on study examining wasteful spending, overuse of health care services

The study will assess trends in potential overuse of bone density scans, cancer antigen 125 blood tests, and electrocardiography.

ACP has collaborated with America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) on a study that assesses trends in the potential overuse of 3 health care services: bone density scans (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry or DEXA scans), cancer antigen 125 blood tests (CA-125), and electrocardiography (EKG).

ACP's High Value Care initiative offers learning resources for clinicians and medical educators, clinical guidelines, best practice advice, case studies, and patient resources on a wide variety of related topics.
