New story slam videos celebrate internal medicine's personal side

Inspired by the journal's popular series of essays “On Being a Doctor,” the Annals Story Slam gave physicians an opportunity to share with a live audience insightful stories about the personal experience of practicing medicine.

Annals of Internal Medicine has released full-length video clips from its recent story slam event held at WHYY Studios in Philadelphia.

Inspired by the journal's popular series of essays “On Being a Doctor,” the Annals Story Slam gave physicians an opportunity to share with a live audience insightful stories about the personal experience of practicing medicine.

Twelve participants shared their compelling narratives, and at the end of the night, audience members voted for their favorite stories. The winners were Faith T. Fitzgerald, MD, MACP, for “Daboise on East 8”; Mohammed Nayeemuddin, MD, ACP Resident/Fellow Member, for “Playlist for an Organ Donor”; and Alan D. Haber, MD, ACP Member, for “Lessons from the Home Front.”

A full collection of the stories is available for viewing online.
