ACP supports National Obesity Care Week

The campaign will highlight the need to fight a national obesity epidemic and offer recommendations for complete care that will ultimately lead to better health, including in areas such as behavioral treatment, medications, support groups, and weight management products and programs.

The STOP Obesity Alliance, the Obesity Action Coalition, The Obesity Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery have launched a national public awareness campaign called “National Obesity Care Week,” which will align multiple stakeholders in an effort to promote a comprehensive approach to care for individuals living with obesity. ACP is a supporting organization. The week runs from Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, through Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015.

The vision of the campaign is to highlight the need to fight this national obesity epidemic and offer recommendations for complete care that will ultimately lead to better health, including in areas such as behavioral treatment, medications, support groups, and weight management products and programs.

ACP offers several obesity-related resources, including “Make It Happen! Helpful Ways to Lose Weight: An Everyday Guide for You and Your Family.

Patient education videos, including “Excess Weight and Your Health” and “Weight Loss Options for Treating Obesity,” are available on the College's website.
