CMS releases final rule on Medicare Shared Savings Program

Many of the changes to the program were in response to concerns and comments that ACP provided to the agency.

On June 4, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule updating the Medicare Shared Savings Program.

Many of the changes to the program were in response to concerns and comments that ACP provided to CMS. One of the changes to the program includes continuing to allow accountable care organizations currently under the Track 1 (1-sided risk) option to sign on to an additional 3-year agreement without being penalized by a reduction in shared savings rate.

A fact sheet outlining the provisions of the final rule is available on the CMS website.
