Free health care reform brochure for patients available
Print copies of the joint ACP and AARP Consumer Guide to Understanding Health System Reform are now available for order. The free brochures, available in both English and Spanish, are meant to be shared with your patients to help answer their questions about health care reform. Guides will be shipped in bundles of 100. The order form is available on the College website.

ACP launches campaign on adult immunization awareness
In support of ACP's ongoing commitment to educating patients about the importance of adult immunization, the College has launched a public awareness campaign, “Give Your Health A Shot.” The campaign emphasizes the need for adults to collaborate with their clinicians to ensure that vaccinations are part of their overall health and wellness goals. ACP worked with GlaxoSmithKline to develop patient education materials on vaccinations for adults.

ACP and ACR issue consensus points for mammography screening
The American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) recently released a joint set of talking points regarding how and when women should have screening mammograms. The points are the result of a meeting between the two organizations in May 2010 and follow-up discussions that took place through August 2011.

Clinical skills proposals for Internal Medicine 2012 wanted
The Clinical Skills Subcommittee (CSSC) is now accepting proposals for Internal Medicine 2012, to be held April 19-21, 2012. The CSSC welcomes all proposals but places a priority on interactive workshops that focus on the acquisition or improvement of physical examination skills, communication skills, and procedural skills. The CSSC is most interested in workshops that have a high likelihood of changing physician behavior using proven teaching techniques or new and innovative teaching strategies that have yet to be tested.
