Study suggests less frequent retinopathy screening in low-risk patients with type 1 diabetes
Annual screening led to an average of 18.4 exams up to time of detection of proliferative diabetic retinopathy and clinically significant macular edema, compared to 7.7 exams with an individualized schedule, for an average reduction of 10.7 exams per patient (58% fewer).

Long-term PPI use associated with higher incidence of dementia
While patients who took proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) from mid- to late life had a modestly higher risk of dementia in late life versus nonusers, shorter-term use was not associated with increased risk.

Breast cancer overdiagnosis common among older women
Breast cancer rates among women ages 75 to 84 years were 4.9 cases per 100 screened women compared to 2.6 cases per 100 unscreened women, according to a retrospective cohort study assessing risk of overdiagnosis.
