Texas group gives internist end-of-life care award

From the January/February ACP Observer, copyright 2004 by the American College of Physicians.

Robert L. Fine, FACP, recently received the first Champion Award from the Texas Partnership for End-of-Life Care.

The award honors people who have committed themselves to making sure that people of all cultures and communities in Texas have access to compassionate care at the end of their lives.

Dr. Fine is an internist and chairman of the Baylor Health Care System Institutional Ethics committee. He has also served as physician leader of the Texas Advance Directives Task Force and has been instrumental in writing laws that guide end-of-life decisions in Texas.

The Texas partnership was founded in 1999.
