Resolutions due Jan. 22

Resolutions for the April Board of Governors' meeting are due Jan. 22. ACP-ASIM members may initiate resolutions addressing any issue or topic of interest by submitting them to their Governor and/or Chapter Council. These resolutions then become a Chapter resolution. Resolutions approved by the Board of Governors and recommendations to the Board of Regents for follow-up are presented to the Board of Regents. Once the Board of Regents accepts recommendations, they are generally referred to a College committee, task force, work group or division for follow-up.

Mexico Chapter honors top doctor

At a ceremony in August, the College's Mexico Chapter gave Mexican Secretary of Health Juan Ramon de la Fuente, MD, its chapter award for his work as a scientist, teacher and leader in public service.

During his four years as Secretary of Health, Dr. Fuente, a psychiatrist by training, has decentralized the Mexican health care system in one of the most ambitious efforts to reform the country's system of health care in modern times. He has also worked to make generic drugs more widely available, increasing patient access to a basic group of medicines. The Mexico Chapter's Governor, Clicerio Gonzalez-Villalpando, FACP, presented the award.
