ACP Governors approve resolutions

From the May 1997 ACP Observer, copyright 1997 by the American College of Physicians.

At a meeting held in conjunction with Annual Session, the College's Board of Governors approved five resolutions, many of which ask the College to promote a range of educational efforts that could help internal medicine:

  • The Governors asked the College to "suggest and promote efforts for adequate funding for graduate medical education teaching programs in the ambulatory setting."
  • In two separate resolutions, the Governors asked the College to work with other organizations to develop educational materials on women's health and adolescent medicine.

Other resolutions reaffirmed the College's commitment to work for universal access to insurance for medical care "including preventive, primary and subspecialty care" and asked ACP to endorse the principle that individual medical care decisions should remain between physician and patient.

The Board of Regents accepted the recommendations at its organizational meeting.
