First ACP membership directory in eight years due out this July
The College's first membership directory in eight years will be available to members, medical schools and medical libraries in July.
ACP mailed questionnaires to its more than 90,000 members last month asking about employment, certification, focus of patient care, location of practice, e-mail address and phone and fax numbers.
Harris Publishing, the directory's publisher, will call College members next month February to verify reported information.
"We encourage members to cooperate because it helps us update our database and gives them an opportunity to send us information on the new boards they've passed," said Eve C. Swiacki, ACP's Director of Membership Activities.
The directory will include all Masters, Fellows, Members, Associates and Honorary Fellows elected by Jan. 1, 1997.
The directory will cost approximately $60. Harris Publishing Co. will be contacting members via mail with information on how to order the publication.
College to publish cardiovascular MKSAP
The College will release the first edition of a medical knowledge self-assessment program (MKSAP) on cardiovascular care later this year.
Cardiovascular Medicine MKSAP is intended for all internists interested in cardiovascular care. The program focuses on the latest information on common cardiovascular problems and is a comprehensive update for practicing doctors several years out of training.
"This could be an extremely valuable educational tool for all internists," said Gabriel Gregoratos, FACP, the program editor. "Cardiovascular disease is a major portion of an internal medicine practice. There have been so many changes in the treatment of cardiovascular disease, it's important to further the knowledge of internists."
Later this year, the College also will publish second editions of subspecialty MKSAPs in gastroenterology, allergy and rheumatology. For more information on ACP's MKSAP products, call customer service at 800-523-1546, ext. 2600.
